Vacation vs. Retreat – Which Will It Be?
We all know that day-to-day life can be somewhat hectic and stressful. Then, imagine one of those days you are told you have cancer. Hectic and stressful takes on a whole new meaning. Your world is now turned upside down. Doctor visits, treatments, consultations now take up a better part of your time. Sites and Insights has designed a comprehensive four-day, three-night retreat that surrounds cancer survivors and caregivers in a safe and comfortable environment. Providing the opportunity to begin using color and art to make direct contact with the deeper issues and emotions experienced on the cancer journey. Connecting with feelings can sometimes be overwhelming. Drawing on our years of experience and expertise, we help each individual take the next step by guiding them thru a unique discovery and self-healing process using mindfulness techniques, such as Thai Chi, meditation and other mindful healing modalities. The good news is that we have everything in place to host and facilitate a retreat including a beautiful mountain location, and a well-equipped group of seasoned staff and volunteers.
For the moment, please consider the following thoughts expressed by two people currently on our retreat waiting list:
“My husband is a terminal brain cancer patient. He went from being a full-time hard worker always on his feet to not being able to walk. So, this has been really hard for him and our family. We could really use a getaway as he’s been cooped up in the house. I am currently his caregiver, and this would be something great for us”.
“I live in San Diego and was diagnosed with stage IIIB cervical cancer. I have received radiation, chemotherapy, brachy therapy with implant, a colostomy, a stent in my right ureter and have hydro nephrosis. I feel as though my experience with cancer has given me a new outlook on life and I just need to figure out how to channel my feelings. I believe I made it through my diagnosis and treatment due to my positive attitude and sense of humor. I would be honored to be a part of your retreat”.
Here’s the bottom line folks. . . we need your help to make our retreats a reality. How do you feel about making a donation? The math is relatively simple; just as soon as YOU decide to make a contribution, we will be totally and completely ‘good to go’! The gifting activity on our website November 28th and the days ahead will tell us how you feel. Please remember that you can honor or sponsor an individual by name, if you wish, when you make your donation! Have you ever received an unexpected gift that brought hope to your heart and tears of joy to your eyes? Maybe because of the gift itself, or perhaps as a result of the love you perceived. Faith, hope, and love . . .you indeed know the greatest of all.
